Fisheries Data Integration Project

Objectives:

  1. Digitize priority IFW stream population and habitat data.

  2. Refine and extend an existing website (PEARL) to provide a user-friendly web-based ‘forum’ for sharing and integrating both lake and stream data in Maine, incorporating input from site user groups as appropriate.

  3. Upload to the new PEARL: (a) Biological data from the Maine Aquatic Biodiversity Project (MABP) database; and (b) newly digitized IFW data, as determined by IFW.

  4. Provide and publicize the necessary documentation to permit data providers to upload their own data to PEARL via the already established Data Annex System.

  5. Develop front-end user interfaces to PEARL for two targeted user-group (anglers, and educators/students). (See PEARL strategic plan for more information on this concept).

  6. Compile and digitize “anecdotal” fisheries information from IFW Region D biologists, as a pilot for developing a statewide database of this type.
