A Pilot Estuarine Component of the PEARL Database

Abstract:

The long-term goal of this four-phase initiative is to develop a database that will open information transfer among volunteer monitoring groups and government agencies in estuaries. This initiative will adapt the PEARL (Public Educational Access to Environmental Information) Project's database to include a larger watershed approach, using the 8 digit HUC framework and will house and provide access to data on lakes and ponds, estuaries and embayments, rivers and streams. The design and development of a wider watershed capability to the already established PEARL database can meet needs for information transfer across geographical and organizational boundaries in an efficient and cost-effective way. The seed project is a two-year effort, divided into four phases.
