George Stevens Academy
George Stevens Academy is a private high school
serving just under 400 students from the communities of Blue Hill,
Brooklin, Brooksville, Castine, Orland, Penobscot, Sedgwick, and
Surry.
The purpose of George Stevens Academy is to help
students realize their potential in a challenging, creative and
caring atmosphere with the goal of becoming lifelong learners and
responsible citizens.
The Academy encourages diversity of self-expression
and tolerance of others. It offers opportunities to develop skills
necessary to think critically and to solve problems effectively.
Carolyn Bennatti, George Stevens' Wetland Connections
curriculum coordinator, has taught at George Stevens since 1985.
Bennatti graduated from the University of Maine with a BS in Wildlife
Management and a MEd in Environmental Education. She teaches AP
Environmental Science, Physical Science, Marine Science, and Advanced
Biology. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, bird watching, gardening,
and kayaking.
