Open House
The best way to experience life at UMaine is at an Open House event, which includes campus and academic department tours, lunch in a dining hall, and a chance to join current students to cheer on the Black Bears at a football or hockey game.

New Student Orientation
Orientation is the best way to kickstart life at UMaine. This overnight experience is jam-packed, you’ll make new friends, connect with fellow incoming students, get to know your academic department, build your class schedule, and learn about resources available to you on campus.
Our Location
UMaine is located on Marsh Island between the Stillwater and Penobscot rivers in Orono, and is approximately 5 miles from Bangor. Maine is home to some of the country’s most spectacular destinations, including Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, and Mount Katahdin.
To truly understand life at UMaine, we recommend staying an extra day or two to explore the natural wonders and boundless playground that surrounds our campus.
